A few weeks ago when I was thinking about the kind of movie I wanted to make for the Spiritual Cinema master class, I realized it had already been made.
What the Bleep Do We Know?!
I have been ACHING for this to be released in Australia.
Aching, I tell you.
"What the Bleep" as its fondly known amongst fans, is an incredible excursion into the science and the metaphysics of how our consciousness creates our reality. It's been out in the States for a year now and has been very successful, with people returning up to four or five times to see it. It's happened through word of mouth, and the grassroots promotion behind the phenomenon has been inspiring to watch from afar. I can't wait to see how we respond in Australia.
I have a feeling it will be huge.
This is what the filmmakers say about it:
"What the Bleep Do We Know!? is an extraordinary project which transcends traditional cinema and presents a hybrid ‘feature documentary’ that challenges and inspires its audience – it’s a unique cinematic creation - really three films in one, interwoven like a DNA helix, into an original tapestry.
It's a documentary. It's a story. It has mind-blowing special effects. These three elements combine to bring about a film experience that will rock your mind and lift your soul! It's a new genre about a New Worldview for a new audience. This outrageous film plunges you into a world where quantum uncertainty is demonstrated – where neurological processes, and perceptual shifts are engaged and lived by its protagonist - where everything is alive, and reality is changed by every thought.
It has been called by some theater goers 'The Handbook to The Matrix'. Like The Matrix it shows you a greater reality behind the one we all accept as true, and you have the ability to create absolutely anything from your own thought while laughing all the way! The difference between this film and that movie is that this isn't science fiction. It's even stranger. It's real. And it's the first film to say it. And it does so boldly and with a BLEEP of a lot of humour. "
It opens here on Thurday, April 14 at the Kino Dendy in Collins Place. I would highly recommend seeing it. If anyone needs me, you'll probably find me milling around the foyer most nights after opening.
that sounds like my kinda movie!
ReplyDeletei've seen too much hollywood cinema lately - and am also ACHING for somethin a little more outside the square. i'll see you there liz
Polly,
ReplyDeleteYou never fail to demonstrate the depth of who you are with your lovely comments. I know what you mean about Holllywood films, although I've never been much of a fan, lately it's just so tedious!
In a way I'm glad because it has made it easier for people who are producing good films to start getting more funding. Over the last 2 years 100 million people per year have stopped going out to the movies in the US which means people are voting with their feet and refusing to support all this crap.
That was partly why seeing the buzz on What the Bleep was so gratifying for me. I really hope that people here support it as much as they have overseas and tell others about it. I'm thrilled that this movie sounds like your kinda thang too...let's make a date for opening night!
Thanks for the e-mail with the link to the official site and the review, Liz. I'm definitely going to see it very soon !
ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome Sebastian.
ReplyDeleteVery glad to know you'll be checking it out, and thanks for visiting :)
